About This Pose

Pigeon Pose is a deep hip opener. It releases stored tension and emotions from the hips, often the storage area for stress.

How to Practice

  • From Downward Dog, bring right knee forward
  • Place right knee behind right wrist
  • Extend left leg straight back
  • Square hips toward front
  • Fold forward over front leg
  • Rest forehead on stacked hands
  • Hold for 1-3 minutes
  • Repeat other side

Benefits

This pose deeply stretches hips and groin, relieves sciatic pain, calms the mind. It releases emotional tension.

Modifications

Use block under hip. Keep back leg bent if needed.
